Resume

Petru Boeriu graduated the Civil Engineering Faculty of the Technical University of Timisoara Romania in 1996. He obtains his PhD degree in 1972. In 1990 he is the first head of the Department of Hydraulics and Environment of the Technical University of Timisoara. During this period he is involved in teaching, consultancy and design of hydraulic structures. Starting with 1992 he is a consultant for Delft Hydraulics and since 1993 is becoming staff at IHE, Hydraulic Engineering Core. Between 1996 and present he was involved in several capacity building and consultancy projects. In 2002 he is awarded the title of Honorary Professor at Technical University of Timisoara, Romania.

  • Expert in the design and operation of hydraulic structures and management of water resources for river basin development.
  • Key note addresses, Chairman and co-chairman, at international conferences
  • Experience in management of international projects and team building accumulated in more than 10 years in the Nile river basin and in the Middle East.
  • Formulation of the term of reference for water resources development projects including formulation of project proposals for EU framework programmes.
  • Good knowledge of EU programs and links developed during years of close contacts
  • Extensive experience in research and teaching activities in the integrated water resources management area.
  • Expert advisor and contribution to the development of Environmental Impact Assessment Methodologies and Tools of water related projects based on practical cases and personal contributions.
  • Manager of large projects in the Nile Basin on establishment of the Nile Basin Capacity Building Network for River Engineering. Activities include research, planning, design and implementation of small hydropower plants, development of modern ICT tools, etc.
