Fernanda de Souza Braga is a Brazilian researcher that obtained her B.Sc. in Geography in 2003 from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil. After working as Projects coordinator and Geography teacher in NGOs, she started her MSc studies in Geography and spatial data treatment at Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Her thesis became the book (in Portuguese) "Itabira e apenas uma fotografia na parede. Mas como doi!" - Estudo das imagens urbanas da cidade de Itabira, Minas Gerais, Brasil.
Between 2009 and 2014 she worked in the water sector as manager of treatment of information in water resources for the Institute of Water Management in Minas Gerais, Brazil.
Since 2014 she has been developing the topic research: “Analysis of the construction and legitimation of waterscape during the Brazilian military regime (1964-1985).” The main objective is to analyse how the military period contributed to the construction of Brazilian waterscape, especially in the sector of hydroelectric power generation in the areas of spatial practices, laws and ideologies. The research is being developed in partnership between UNESCO-IHE and Leiden University. The sponsor of this research is the Brazilian agency Coordenacao de Aperfeicoamento de Pessoal de Ensino Superior (CAPES).
