When I grew up and reached the age for education (the age of six), I joined the Medehanialm elementary and secondary school and completed my high school education in the field of science in 1986. I first joined Arbaminch Water Technology Institute (AWTI) in 1987 and obtained a diploma in Hydrology in 1989. My first employer with the government authority was the Ethiopian Valley Studies Development Authority, where I had worked in the Department of Hydrology, studying the Abay (Blue Nile) River Basin for about four and half years as a hydrology technician. Due to my great ambition to pursue my study, I rejoined AWTI as an advanced standing student in the Department of Water Resources Engineering on the bases of my excellent achievements in the diploma course of Hydrology. I completed my study and obtained a bachelor of degree in Water Resources Engineering in 1998. Right after my graduation, I commenced professional work as a junior Water Resources Engineer at Metaferia Consulting Engineers PLC. I was involved in the Oromia Water Resources Baseline Survey Project to identify and estimate the water resources potential for hydropower, irrigation and water supply purposes of the entire region. Following that, I joined the Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation, the Tis Abay II Hydropower Project in the capacity of Assistance Resident Engineer in the team of the consultants Coyne et Belier, Howard Humphrey and Kennedy & Donkin.
