The Netherlands Alumni Association of Nepal (NAAN) in association with Royal Dutch Consulate has organized an“ Orientation and Interaction Program” on 2 September 2011 to the new Netherlands Fellowship Programme (NFP) Participants to provide general information about the Netherlands and academic institutes to the participants who are going for higher studies in various institutes in the Netherlands.

Alumni from respective institutes, members of NAAN and the Fellowship Officer, Ms. Patricia Chettri, from Royal Dutch Consulate shared their experiences and briefed the new participants on relevant issues such as travel tips, social and cultural lifestyle of Dutch people, things to carry, weather, information about different institutes etc.

The main objective of the orientation & interaction program was to:

  • Provide advance information about the institutes that the new students will be attending from former students. The program included briefing about the social and cultural lifestyle of the Netherlands from the old participants.
  • In the past new students have had confusions about what they need to take with them to the Netherlands. As a result, some ended up packing unnecessary belonging, which has made their travel uncomfortable and difficult. During the program, new students were able to interact with former students and able to learn what needs to be taken and what needs to be left at home. They also learned about the basic do's and don'ts while living in the Netherlands.
  • Provide opportunity to new participants to interact with each other and know each other who will be attending courses in different institutes which will assist them to plan further trip to the Netherlands

Lots of other relevant queries from the new participants were also entertained and all the participants highly appreciated this initiative of NAAN which would assist them to plan their travel to the Netherlands smoothly and also help them during their stay and study in the Netherlands

At the end Mr. Naresh Pradhan, NAAN Chairman closed the program with vote of thanks.
